BAD ACID

BAD ACID.

A collection of odd Acid house style tracks composed between 2007 - 2017.

Most of these songs emerged from experimenting in between working on other projects. Composing acid tracks has a mentally restorative or medatative effect for me. Sort of a way to clear my creative slate. Sometimes it's convenient to record these creations. Sometimes these acid-doodles actually sound good enough to be considered a cohesive "song". This is a selection of four that emerged as sort of the stand out examples.

Still, they are Bad Acid, at very best.

"Alpha BETACAM ACID (U-Matic Mix) - 2010

The music video was produced using SONY U-Matic 1/2" analog video machines.
The final 2-channel mix-down was also done via U-MATIC tape to utilize the excellent built in broadcast audio compressor, resulting in a rich saturated sound that was hard for me to achieve any other way at the time becuase I was pretty poor and didn't have access to nice tape machines. I litterally scored a moving-truck-load full of disowned analog video equipment that the Jimi Hendrix experience in Seattle, WA (where I was working as an Audio Engineer at the time) was going to throw into a dumpster. I convinced the director to let me take it—promising that it could do more productive things in my hands, than if it were left to ocupy space in the bottom of a landfill. Most of the video from the cut was found footage that came along in that truckload of equipment.
This version of the track is a slightly different composition, and mix than what ended up on the Bad ACID EP.

Production Notes:

The main gear used to compose these songs was the Akai MPC-2000xl drum sampler & MIDI sequencer, along with the Roland SH-101 and TB-303 monophonic analog synthesizers. As well as Roland TR-606 analog & TR-707 digital drum machines. There is a smattering of other instruments and effects used, but I can't be buggered to remember what they were.
